I don't know about the injections - but it would hurt. I'd think that would be a last resort. Have you tried an elimination diet? My Yorkie was allergic to chicken of all things. She gets bumps and her skin turns real red if she gets anything with chicken in it. I have her on turkey and rice and lamb and rice. I'd try one of these "non" allergic diets 1st, and then I'd change her shampoo to baby shampoo or something for allergic dogs and go from there. If the benedryl isn't helping the vet should be able to give you something else, but steroids would keep you form being able to find out what she's allergic to. I'd keep her on the benedryl and try the diet elemination 1st and then go from there.
