I will keep the house around 78 but I also have a heat lamp on one corner of the whelping box. Puppies can't control their temp the first few days. Make sure the lamp is on one corner so they can move if it's too warm. Also check to see it is not tooo close and will burn then. It has just got to be comfortable.
