Default coat

I have bit of a different opinion when it comes to modified silk. Where I come from, it is not wool, but not pure silk...it is a bit cottony, but not pure cotton..I think that makes it clear as mud to you, I am sure LO

Wool...and I rarely see any Yorkies around with a true wool coat any longer...it is black as a rule, mats and can not be brushed free of mats..needs to be kept clipped very short. Even the face mats...miserable coat for the pet owner..never should be in the ring or bred from IMO.
Warm to the touch. Much like poodle texture, not always a curl to it, but it happens.
I have seen a coat that is a bit softer and not true silk, a good shine and will not mat too badly if cared for with conditoner..still a bit warm to the touch, not like wool. I consider that type a modified silk.
Silk is cool to the touch, almost no matting..in fact it only gets tangles from playing..lots of shine..
Many breeders disagree and say it is either silk or not, no modified..and I do tend to agree.
