I make my living as an artist and I paint commissions and show in galleries. I love anything that has to do with art and spend a lot of time visiting museums and galleries. I love to travel and try to make a journey to another country and culture each year. When I am not painting...I spend time on my volunteer work.I consider my anti-racism activism to be as much a part of me as my artistic endeavors.I facilitate a group called Conversations on Race and try and help participants to become more comfortable talking about the issues of racism. I also sit on the Advisory Board of Directors of our local university's School of Fine Arts. In this capacity I work with the School's gallery in planning shows and jurying admissions to those shows.I love the flexibility of being an artist because I get to spend a lot of time with my daughter and Vivi. My daughter is also involved in activism and we often get to work together on projects. She is currently organizing a fashion show to raise awareness on the issues of Domestic Violence and money for a local Domestic Violence shelter. She is only 16 and I am very proud of her.
