One puppy litters are the things overdrawn bank accounts aremade of. So often the mom is not stimulated into labor and needs a c-section. Never during the day but in the middle of the night when the ER charges $1200.00 and up for the surgery. Now you have a mom who is not bonded to a newborn for 24 hours and you sit with the sweet little one on your lap or in your bra a=or somewhere to keep it warm. All the time offering it back to mom who just is not quite ready to accept and care for it.
I have found that one puppy litters are fairly common in Yorkies. At least the ones I have bred. It just happens. The puppy is huge while still nursing but will slow down growthwise after weaning..Health should not be an issue one way or the other..
