Deisel is 6 months and he was using the pee pad until a couple fo days ago and he started doing it on the floor. He has never gotten the poo on the pad. He won't eat at 7:00 when we get up he waits and we do leave it out. I have never had a dog and he was sick in the beginning when we got him at Christmas so taking him out into the cold was not an option. Someone mentioned a litter box but I don't really know the pros and cons between taking him out and using the box (besides it will be outside and I won't have to clean it). We do leave food & water out with him and he has the living room, kitchen, and hallway to roam thru the day (too much freedom, maybe). I do have a crazy schedule so I started makring out time to come home and take him out at lunch, trying not to leave him longer than 6 hours (one hour for each of the months that he is). I am not sure if the things that I have learned so far are right or not. Should I put his food down for 1 hour and then take it up? Do I take him outside immediately after getting up? How soon after he eats do I take him out? Is a playpen better than a crate? I am lost if anyone can help me I would be REALLY grateful!!!! And do they really need someone to play with - like another dog? My email is
