Default Please help!!! His back legs shake and vet recommend LP surgery at 14 years old

Hi everyone,

My boy turned 14 this year and has had pancreatitis, two masses that we are still in the diagnosis stage and other host of issues last couple of months.

I am concerned because his back two legs shake really fast and quickly when we come to a stop at a walk or when he’s excited like before he eats or when he’s playing. It would happen every once in a while for a couple of years and vet did xray and not arthritis. Recently, it’s become more frequent so we got anther set of X-rays last week and no arthritis but vet is recommending LP surgery by her mobile surgeon and that his pain would worsen if not done.

She recommended this before years ago also for actually both of my babies but Ladyjane from the group kindly let me know why it was not the best thing to do.

I feel stuck now and not sure what to do. It seems so risky even more now at 14 years old, especially with pancreatitis from just May of this year and how do I even know if it’s from pain.

He seems fine and does walk and play. She said if it was due to pain, the Ellevet CBD should work and also Meloxicam, He’s been on the CBD for a week and it hasn’t made a difference. Wants me to add in the Meloxicam at same time but also need to run a renal analysis after he’s been on it for one month so that gives me great concern because I lost my last baby a couple of years ago due to kidney failure.

I tried posting a video and I don’t know how or even how to use the site too much. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions anyone can help with. Thank you so much. 🙏
