 Micro chip/smart ID tags
So my Phoebe is 10 and a half months old now and so far is not micro chipped because 2 of the three vets she has been to wants to wait and chip her when she gets spayed because she is a little dog and it is a big needle however its going to be around a thousand dollars to get her fixed and I'm not sure when I will have that kind of money. When I had my pomeranian they chipped him on his first vet visit at 8wks. My girl is a runner and has gotten out of her harness twice now. The first time I got her back right away but the second time she was missing for 20 minutes before I found out she was in the house the whole time. But that was 20 minutes of panic of not knowing where she was at. I just kept thinking she has no identification so even if someone found her they wouldn't have a way of locating me.
I have since bought a xouple of smart ID tags with the QR codes. They work great. If the potential rescuer scans the code thry can find out Phoebe's information and my contact information. I also get an immediate notification that her tag was scanned and the location of where it was scanned at. However some reviews say that over time the QR codes wear off and/or gets scratched rendering it uneffective. Also she has to be waring it at all times so even though I use a harness for walks I also bought her a collar that she wears all the time with her smart ID. I also bought her an air tag holder (I don't have an air tag because I don't have an iphone) to put it in to hopefully keep it safe. I have tried a few gps tracking devices but all of the ones I have found for androids for useless.
So any thoughts or suggestions? What are some of your expieriences with ID tags. Losing Phoebe is a real concern for me. She is a very friendly girl and loves all people. She also loves dogs of all sizes which is kind of scary because I don't kbow if they feel the same way. So far the invisable boogy man that seems to only show up in the middle of the night when mommy is asleep (which is usually the cat) is the only thing she seems to be afraid of. lol |
