Hello !

I was a member of this forum a long time ago (20 years ago) under the same name.

I now have a Yorkie again, after all those years. I always had dogs in between. This one is my third yorkie and the first one I got that wasn’t a young puppy. I got him at 12 months old and he is now 16 months old.

I remember my others being hard to housebreak (100% outside) but this one is something else. At 16 months, he still won’t empty his bladder completely most of the time (I had him neutered) and he needs to go outside every 2-3 hours or he will have an accident. I am home most of the time and I do let him out very often. He can’t hold it at night 95% of the time and has to wear a diaper for the night. I started taking them off yesterday, so he can feel when he soils his bed, in the hopes he will learn. Using pee pads is not an option.

I thought I would ask if anyone maybe had a similar situation and their dog eventually learned and became reliable ? I’m just looking for hope I guess…
