Your bf needs to let your puppy know who is boss. I would have him gently lay the puppy on his back when he growls and hold him there until he is calm. You might also let him feed him and give him treats. As for the house training...my 11 month old still goes wherever so I'm no expert. But, it sounds like you are giving him the run of the house when you are not home. He should be confined to a small area with a wee wee pad or newspaper to go on if he has to. He should never be out of your sight so that you can "catch him in the act". Then just pick him up and take him outside. Tapping his nose or showing him the puddle won't help at all. He has no idea what is wrong or that he is responsible for it. A puppy might look guilty but they don't associate what they did with you being mad. To them it's the pee that is making you mad. Then when they see you go to the puddle they think you are mad at the pee again and they look upset. Does that make any sense? It takes patience, patience, patience! Good luck.
