Default Moving- protecting the carpet

Hi everyone!

I have an 8 year old yorkie girl who is potty pad trained. Mostly. She goes in phases where she does great, and where she doesn't do as great.

I am moving in a few weeks and am trying to figure out how to protect the carpet in my new place from accidents. She has done a number on the carpet in 2 rooms in my current home and want to avoid ruined carpet in the new place.

All I can think of is the kind of hard plastic carpet protector that you can put down- similar to what you can put under a desk chair. I can probably deal with something like that in my bedroom if I have to and put down a throw rug next to the bed, but I feel like it would look really weird in the living room, where company would see it.

Does anyone have experience with trying to protect carpet from potty accidents? Any suggestions? I am at a loss and want to keep things nice at my new home.
