I tried teaching tricks when I got my first Yorkie and a very wise person pointed out to me that I was teaching "Cute Tricks" and not one thing that will make her safer or more disciplined. She said there was always time to teach tricks after I had a safe and trained dog. So, I am passing that advice on
He's 5 months old and of course! he knows sit, lay down, stay, come, down (of your lap) paw... He's very well trained for being so young and a lot of people praise me on that note. But thanks for your concern I, too, would be very worried about a pup not knowing the basics.
