I don't know who gave you those "stern terms"; but, I would ask that person if they plan to pay your vet bills if/when you have a dog fight and/or if/when one or both of them suffer from cancer, peri anal hernias or other health issues due to not being neutered.
I simply can't understand why anyone would believe ONE person's "stern terms" when there is clear scientifically proven risks to leaving dogs intact. How about asking that person for scientific proof of such advice and then compare THAT to scientific proof of the ill effects.
