I'm not sure about the laws in your state, but as a rule they have to honor the terms of your lease for the duration of it. When your lease is up they can request that you sign one of their leases, and that is when the clause would affect you.

If they don't request that you sign a new lease, your current lease will automatically roll over. Sometimes as a month-to-month and sometimes for the length of time in the original lease.

Do you have any realtor friends that you could show your lease? They would know all of your state laws.
