Default Todays vet visit Heart Murmur!!

I took Izzy in to the ER vet as she stepped on either something that bit her, stung her or burnt her (acidic). Vet was not at all concerned with that but she did ask if I knew that she had a heart murmur. I did know that but she told me that with small dogs it can mean death within 6 months!!! Neither of her other 2 vets (Both of which told me about it) Mentioned how serious it is and her possible passing that quickly! I had done a quick search and saw that many dogs live their whole lives with one and it doesnt effect longevity. I am SO confused and upset now! She just turned 12 years old and other than collapsing trachea, (well under control with meds), and occasional runny stools and over urination (possibly a UTI or Bladder issue, trying to get a urine sample from a squatting Yorkie female is not easy) shes been in great health and very feisty and more energy than I have.
So I got the number of the nearest cardiologist 1 hour away but the vet said to be prepared for nearly 1K to get her diagnosed and who knows how long to get an appointment, I'm ready to pull my hair out!
For now she is on pain meds and they gave her a cone to keep her away from it but she started coughing so I took it off and she hasnt gone after it. Also, they gave me a syringe and said that I could suck it up off the floor if need be.
Any advice or other info about the murmur would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you all so much!
Christopher
