Absolutely true!!! Clothes can cause matting.
I use to keep certain areas of my Bichon much shorter for this reason....under his arms - around his neck, etc. because these areas especially matted.
Often - shorter hair (a puppy cut) mhelps greatly - and certainly some clothes cause less matting than others.
I will never know how I lucked out with my not-too-little Yorkie, but He could wear an outfit and not be comed for a month - then, I could remove it and a comb would sail through his hair with never a matt or tangle. Lucky me!!!
