How much to feed is dependent on weight. I think you should speak with your vet and possibly your breeder.

Personally, I discourage free feeding dogs. It is not a great habit to get into. Once you start certain things they are difficult to undo. Your puppy should have a set amount of food and there should be no guessing how much he has eaten. You also should have set times for him to eat. Not only for health reasons, but they love consistency. A normal puppy at 12 weeks of age should not have to be fed constantly.

Be sure you are feeding him puppy food! I noted you did say that. I am just reinforcing.

I have a rule of thumb with kibble with average size yorkies....about 1/4 cup twice/day. But again, I would speak with the vet.
