I'm sure all Yorkies are different.

My Yorkie is 7 months old now but until he was nearly 6 month's old I could hardly even get in the same room with him if I had a brush or comb in my hand. It was awful - and I was sure that I would never get to brush or comb him a day in his life -- if he lived to be 20 years old.

However, during those first few months - we got his terrible yuky matted puppy hair removed - and a beautiful new silky - totally nontangling nonmatting coat has come in. Now I comb him (for less than a minute often), and he almost enjoys it. After all - it doesn't hurt him to comb him like it used to. Sometimes, I'll have a session where I only comb his legs, or only comb his back and tummy, etc. He has become very used to these shorter sessions, and we both enjoy them.

Good luck - I hope you get to enjoy the dramatic change that I did!

I want to add also - that I think "little puppy Yorkies" are almost impossible to comb or brush anyway - because they are such playful little wiggleworms. They really do get (if only marginally) a little calmer as they age.
