I almost hit an eagle the other day, damm those birds are massive. I came around a curve doing 35MPH and wham, there's this eagle trying to pry stuck roadkill off the road, thank you GOD no one was behind me. I slammed on my breaks, that bird was not leaving without that food. I was blowing and blowing my horn, finally he got it loose, that bird was so big and heavy it took a long time for it to get air bound, and I am blowing my horn like crazy, the drivers on this road do 50 and over, it is a posted 40MPH, I didn't want a car coming around the curve and rear ending me, I would not be here writing this. Finally, it was about 3 1/2 feet off the ground, I figured it would veer left or right to get away from blowing horn so I started moving again, nooooo, this freaking bird stayed straight in front of me lol. Thankfully I had to make a left turn, when I did I pulled over to watch which way that bird was going, it went straight, had I not made that turn, I surely would have hit it.
Here on mountain roads ya never know what's around a bend so I always go slower than the limit.
