Wise choice to drive and Mr Flintastic will be much more comfortable. I would check motels along your route to make sure they accept dogs. I have read Best Western does but there are many that do.
I personally would not chance just stopping at any motel especially Flint is a puppy, he will be in new surroundings with new smells and sounds, he may bark at all that he hears. Motels that accept dogs and ppl that use dog friendly motels accept these conditions.
My fur butt would bark in new surroundings and he's 11 years old.
