I have the same problem here. Our Teddy has been treated for enlarged heart for almost an year. He's responded well to the meds. Now his coughing is back and the vets are playing with the meds with no luck. I took him to another vet who said his heart was fine, but that he had a mass in his lungs because of possible lung infection and that the infection is so bad it possible it's caused pulmonary fibrosis.
The overall conclusion is that because of his age (he is 11), his not responding to the meds is considered...dare i say...normal?
I am so sorry about Ranger.
