I bred my yorkie and she is ACA registered. Both of her parents are AKC registered and the daddy to the litter is AKC registered. The reason my yorkie wasn't registered with AKC is because the breeder I got her from only gives the AKC papers if you want to spend an extra 1000.00. Since I paid over a 1000.00 I did not want to spend the extra money for the AKC papers. So instead the breeder gave me ACA. I don't think because a breeder uses a different registry that makes them a bad breeder or that their dog is anything less than the standard for the breed. I know a lot of AKC registered yorkies that look nothing like a yorkie. ACA makes any dog that don't have a pedigree have a DNA to prove it's lines. I personally like APRI better than AKC also. I do have a couple of dogs registered with AKC but if I breed them I will register my litters another registry.
