Last month when we didn't even have Scrappy for even 2 days and he became sick with parvo. I never realized until then how much dogs pick up on your emotions and how you are feeling. We got Scrappy on Friday night
and by Monday morning he was at the vet being treated for parvo. Well after I took scrappy to the vet and he didn't come home Raven was already acting kinda depressed. She would go to the door where I had kept Scrappy and whine a little bit, but when I got the news on Valentines day that Scrappy passed away and I was crying and upset, she became really upset.
She actually vomited a few times that day from all the stress. Of course I freaked out when she did this thinkning maybe she might have contacted the parvo, but the vet assured me that there was no way she would already be infected because of the incubation period. He told me that dogs are very intelligent and can pick up when your stressed or sick, and will react accordingly. Sure enough in a few days she was better, but to this day she will go into the room where I had Scrappy and look around for him.
