Wow, I didn't know you could use regular human nail clippers. That's cool to know. I HATE trimming the nails...always afraid to clip too far. My groomer does nails with the cut, but I have to do them inbetween times. I think a good rule of thumb is to only clip the very end off-then you know you are ok. I've always heard that walking on pavement is good to keep them down too. I've also heard that if you can hear the nails when the dog is walking on a surface (linoleum, hardwood floor, sidewalk, whatever) then they are too long, so I guess if you clip them and still hear them on the floor, clip them a little more.
