Default Senior Biewer off food

I have a senior Biewer that started being picky with his food 2 days ago. He would eat some of his kibble out of my hand but then he would not eat anything this morning. Then this afternoon I put some kibble in my hand and he ate some then. He's also on two meds that he takes without any problems but he would not take them today and I had to make sure forcefully, which I don't like to do, to make sure he took his medicine. So my question is, what do you do in this situation? He's not in full anorexia where he hasn't eaten at all in 24 hrs. I know dogs are smart enough not the starve themselves so I'm sure he will eat when he's ready but he is a senior. It's also tough because I can't just go and switch his food because he is on a prescription diet. He's also not acting sick at all, he's acting his normal happy self with wagging tail and everything. Any advice would be a great help until I get a hold of the vet.
