Thanks all, it's a matter of making sure he'll eat first thing in the morning (as you've said, no easy task!). Being extra careful about that now and making sure he gets some snacks right before bed.

I took him to the vet just-in-case and they said he is totally fine and that once a month is quite normal for this breed. They said come in if it's more than once a week.
