Yes, it does happen when tummies are empty.
Other things to consider:
bile acid test to rule out a liver shunt....sometimes if a shunt is small it can go undetected for a long time. Sometimes the liver enzymes can be normal and they can still have a shunt!
If it continues, ask about GI test that is sent out to Texas A&M ...
