Here is a link you should watch about first time owners of Pit Bull terriers, then decide if you still want a Pit Bull.
A story from my own personal experience with a friend that owned a Pit Bull and a 6 Lb yorkie.

Both dogs were gotten as puppies, yorkie was 6 months old when the Pit Bull was purchased. Both raised together. The Yorkie was the dominant one, always bossing the Pit Bull around, always taking toys away from the Pit Bull.

The Pit Bull was always crated when my friend had to leave the house for any amount of time.

Now both dogs are 6 years old. The Pit Bull was sleeping, the yorkie wanted to play, she started bothering the Pit Bull to wake him up, the Pit Bull grabbed the 6 Lb yorkie around the middle of her back and broke her spine killing the yorkie in a blink of the eye.
Here were two dogs that were raised together, got along good, were BFF, yet this happened.
