First, I thought to buy a pitbull but then I found that they don't like other dogs. Is it true? If yes, then obviously it won't be a sensible choice to buy a pitbull. What other dog can be a good choice? Need serious suggestions please. | There are other breeds of dogs besides yorkies??? Lol, I am addicted to yorkies, so that’s the only breed I would ever have. In getting a new puppy when you have a dog already, and this applies to any breed of dog and bringing a new puppy home. You have to take into consideration your dog, how you raised him, how you trained him. Is he dog friendly, does he interact well with other dogs, is he a food guarder, does he require a lot of attention from you and most importantly, is he neutered. There is no right or wrong breed for a yorkie or any other breed of dog. YT has many members that have big dogs and yorkies, it all depends on the nature of your dog, he is either going to like or dislike whatever breed you bring home to his turf. There is always an adjustment time period for your dog to get use to a new kid now sharing his space. If you are looking to add another dog to be this dog BFF, select a breed that you want, I would suggest one more to the size of the yorkie you have now. Yorkies are high energy dogs, they love to wrestle and be wild, run and chase each other. A dog his size would be ideal, a larger breed could injure a yorkie if rough housing gets to rough, again, it’s how you will raise and train this new puppy. I had a pack of 3 females yorkies, all 3 years apart, all now passed. My babies were all very well socialized with all types of dog breeds, sizes and other animals. My girls never fought with each other, there was no jealousy with any of them, all got equal attention. So to answer your question, get a dog of your choice, one that you will love forever, it’s a roll of the dice whether your present dog will accept any new puppy.
