I’m really sorry for your loss. I lost one of mine two months ago so know how raw the pain is.
You’re far better to go with the genuine breeder that you contacted even if it means a wait for your new little one. I’m in England, so different situation, but most genuine breeders here have a waiting list, especially now as most have postponed matings because of the. crazy situation here this last year. Ones contacting you with one ready to go are more likely than not to be puppy farms or what has been termed Greeders here since the start of Covid. People with one bitch, often not a particularly good one, who have seen the absolutely crazy, extortionate prices that puppies of any breed are selling for here since our first lockdown & have mated their bitch to any dog they can find regardless of breeding lines, health, conformation to jump on the money grabbing bandwagon. Puppies that before Covid sold for about £600 are now fetching upwards of £3000 so you can see the problem.
The reason most established, genuine breeders refuse to have a litter currently, unless to keep themselves, is they don’t want to rip buyers off but at the same time don’t want to sell a puppy at their normal price only to be conned by some unscrupulous buyer who then goes on to resell it at a profit, with the breeder having no knowledge of where their precious puppy has ended up.
What you don’t want to end up with is a puppy with health problems that will cause unknown amounts of heartbreak. |
