A lot of time humping is about dominance in neutered animals but its possible. Mine smell each others privates pretty often. I have yet to have a female go into heat on me I don't know if I have been lucky or what, I had Callie spayed at 9 months, got Penny at 8 months and had her spayed after a few weeks, and then I had Dixie spayed at 6 months. My preferred is 6 months.
