We left for our vacation on Friday of last week. The cough is off and on but definitely not better. It is dry now with no mucus. Mostly at night. I already have an appointment to take him back. But I was wondering if anyone has experienced this with their pup. I’m thinking:

1) kennel cough. He got his vaccine 4 days before the cough started. Maybe he caught something at the vets? … my other two dogs are fine.

2) collapsed trachea. Drinking and eating do not seem to aggravate him so I don’t know. Also would it come on that quickly. He had zero coughing before last week.

3) congestive heart failure. He does seem to have more issue when lying down. His energy level isn’t nearly what it was. But… would the cough just show up that quickly?

If anyone has any experience similar to this please let me know. It feels like an eternity waiting for his appointment next week.
Could be anything. As for CT showing up suddenly, it does happen. I have a current foster who just started coughing and xray revealed a collapsed trachea. (xrays don't always show it) Also, yes, CHF also can just show up suddenly.

Hope the appointment goes well.
