I'm not a fan of retractable leashes its to hard to pull the dog in, in an emergency or really for any reason and I saw one break right in front of me once at the dog park. I have one and have for probably 14 years and only used it a few times once in a field when we had been driving around a lot and then when we bought our house and the fence wasn't up yet.
