Is he able to see out of the bedroom window at night.
I ask this because my boy is not an anxious boy, he's 10 years old. I live in the country, one level house. At night the wild critters come out on the the lawn. Although the curtains are closed Cody can still see them. I assume he hears them and that wakes him up, then the pacing back and fourth on the bed begins, followed by panting because whatever is out there he wants it.
If your pup can see out of the window something may be catching his attention causing this reaction like my boy. Just a thought.
