That said, we still retested his biochem at the vet on Thursday. We also did a urinalysis and an SDMA test for kidney function. Everything was fine. GGT was normal and ALT was down to 217.
The consulting vet suggested we start him on a low dose of prenisolone every other day. I gave him his first dose with dinner tonight. He has suddenly expressed interest in his squeaky ball and is running around stomping it to death. It's like we turned back time. So he may have Addison's even though his electrolytes are normal. Would need to do an ACTH test to confirm. Regardless, steroids are what he needed. |
So, you really don't know if he has any medical condition. He might have continued to improve without the steroid. Steroids are great but they also can cause issues.
I am happy to hear he is much better! Again, the ALT is not much of a good indicator in and of itself.
