I hate to tell some people, NO...but it just depends on each person. I have never run a credit check...you know just because someone has money doesn't mean they will spend it on vet care. I had a woman want a pup..she had a sweet female and wanted another...Whispersmom will remember this woman I am sure.
Her female was 7 yrs and not spayed. I looked at her teeth and the gums were infected, tartar build up was so bad you could not see any white at all. This woman had diamonds on every finger, ear lobs and wrist...so I asked her why her Yorkie was so in need of vet care? She said she loved her too much to take the chance something would happen during surgery. I would rather see one of my babies go to Yorkie Heaven having proper vet care then to suffer a lifetime of pain from abscessed teeth, uterine infections etc...I politely told her that was a selfish type love and not the kind of pet owner for my puppy.
You have to trust your gut feeling, don't be hasty, let people put down a deposit and come visit every 1 or 2 weeks until ready to sell..by then you have time to get to know them, hopefully...references from their vet on past care for their animals is valuable...one man brought a letter from his Pastor..LOL |
