Default Louie waking up crying in pain?

Hi all, first time Yorkie mom here. Louie is 8 months old, 5lbs, happy and healthy. He's started waking up from naps crying as if he's in pain but I have no idea what might be causing it.

Its happened a few times over the past few weeks. He'll be just napping, totally asleep, and suddenly sit up, start yipping very loudly and appearing very distressed. He sort of licks and swallows a bit while crying. It doesn't last long and he's perfectly fine afterwards.

I thought maybe he just had some sort of puppy nightmare but he really does seem to be in pain.

I read a bit about reflux but he doesn't have any issues eating and has a good appetite. His teeth are all good. He sleeps all night with no issues. There doesn't seem to be anything odd in his mouth. I just have no idea what may be going on.

Anyone have any ideas? Or other suggestions as to things to look for that may give any additional clues?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I've had dogs all my life but Louie is my first Yorkie. I waited until my kids were all "big", youngest is now 10, so Louie is the baby I waited for and we all just love him so much. Its hard not knowing whats upsetting him so badly.
