My moms now passed rescue who was maybe 6 when she got him was like that. If I tried to trim his face he snapped at the scissors and me. Eventually after he got bonded with us and lots of small attempts and me not being scared of him helped and he was much better after 2 years. Dixie was not happy getting her face messed with by us and would bite us and the comb but our trainer had us use a piece of duck jerky for her to chew on while we combed her face and it worked great (it did require two people though). I also was brushing her body every night before bed but we had to chew on a chew for a while to allow that to happen. Out of the 3 I had as actual little puppies that still had the puppy coat Dixies was the best it never matted and that kinda shocked me lol The groomer said she never once tried to nip at her. They tend to act different when we aren't around.
