Default Nervous for Thumper

Updating every one on Thumper's condition. I wrote previous posts about Thumper having Kidney Disease and working with his Vet to get him on the right medication.

We did another UPC Ratio test and UA after him being on new meds for a month. Unfortunately the UPC test came back even higher than last month from 2.7 to 3.2. The meds were suppose to at least keep him stable if not lowering the Protein in his urine.

Her recommendation is to take him to an Internal Specialist as his condition is out of her expertise to treat. I completely agree with her on him seeing a specialist now. The treatment above was with her already consulting a Specialist over the phone.

She said he may need a renal biopsy, which according to her is dangerous because of all the blood vessels surrounding the kidney.

I am extremely nervous for him as he is still so young (9 years old) to be having such issues.

Luckily I was able to get him an appointment for this Monday with an Attending Physician at the local hospital. (There was a cancellation in his schedule)

I was offered to see a Resident at the hospital as they usually have better availability. I have never needed to see a Specialist before does anyone have recommendations between seeing an Attending vs. Resident. I know the Resident is still in training and would definitely prefer an Attending but if it meant waiting weeks for an appointment to open up I would probably go with the resident.

Honestly, I just want to get answers about next steps so I can prepare going forward. I know logically on Monday I still won't have an exact answer but maybe we can determine scheduling diagnostic tests to get the correct answers.
