Sick doggie that is coughing / sneezing / choking Hi there. I am very happy that I found this forum. I am glad to be here and thank you ahead of time. =)
I am trying everything possible out of desperation.
My little "Billie" is a female Yorkie. She weights 7 lbs. and is about 13 years old.
She has had most of her teeth pulled a few years back.....I think she only has about 3 teeth left. Those were not pulled because they needed a special dentist because they did not want to break her jaw while doing them.
She has always been VERY healthy and super active. Until 2 months ago. Out of nowhere two months ago, she started doing something and it is very difficult to know what is going on. Is is kind of a cough/sneeze/choke. It is impossible to tell if the clog is in her nose or her throat...but either way, something is getting clogged and then she cant get air. Sometimes it seems more like a sneeze and that might actually be something different. She has been to 3 different vets and the only things that we know after the 3 visits are that she has...
1) A slight heart murmur. The first vet said that it was nothing to be concerned about....but the last one said that it could be more...
2) Partial Tracheal Collapse (was told it isn't to bad and I will attach the X-ray photo)
3) Periodontal Disease (from her molar that will need to come out).
She was put on anti biotics after her 2nd vet visit and that did not help. They also checked her little nose to see if anything was stuck inside and nothing was.
Every time she goes in to see a vet she does not display these symptoms/actions unfortunately and they just send her home. Once home....she does these things every one in while. About 2 times per hour......and sometimes it is so bad that she can not get air.
Currently she is set to have a cardiac ultrasound in 2 weeks to see what is going on with her heart....but it is very difficult to get through each day right now watching her choke and not get air.
Hopefully I can post a few videos and maybe one of you lovely people has experienced something similar or at least has some advise. I keep spending the money to fix her but we are getting nowhere. =(
I really appreciate the help of you all and I will post some very happy photos of Billie soon. I just had to get this desperate emergency post out of the way.
PS - Is there a way to post the video?? Without seeing it, I doubt that this will make any sense.... |
