In Nevada I always worried about big off-leash dogs, everywhere. Now I am extremely fortunate that Lake Geneva is a small town where loose dogs rules are strictly enforced and the threat is decreased, though as a Yorkie walker, I am always vigilant! And being "in the country" we were "watched" one morning by three hawks who came together and finally perched. Very blessed to live here... |
Cody was not socialized as a young pup. He was gotten for an 8 year old child whose parents had recently divorced. The grandmother and great grandmother thought a puppy would take her mind off Daddy no longer being there, so the two grandmothers pitched in 1/2 and 1/2, took the child to what they thought was a breeder ( it was a broker, they live in NY, my home town. I knew of this place ) let the child select a puppy. Because the child walked the dog everyday supervised by the grandmother, Cody was not allowed to sniff and greet because the child was holding the leash, grandmother didn't want a possible dog fight. So, for this reason Cody is not dog friendly. I raised all my puppies from 8 weeks old, they were socialized with all types of animals, cows, calf's, goats and yes dogs lol. I am soooo embarrassed when Cody goes into Cujo mode, ppl think this is how I raised my dog. Cody misses out on a lot of things we could do because of this. Not his fault, fault lays on his prev. owner.
