I would be petrified to have him climb the stairs alone. He could easily slip through the railings — which go from the bottom of the stairs to the top and then around two sides of the second floor landing. At any point along those railings, if he slipped through, he would fall to the hard wood entry floor — probably a twelve foot drop from the second floor. Because of his vision impairment, I don’t think he would realize the danger.
