We didn't know earlier and had to work with Bella to let us brush her teeth at around 6 months. She wouldn't open her mouth. We let her smell the toothbrush and toothpaste often and eventually got her to chew on the toothbrush which was a good start. You have to keep at it. In addition, we also use the water additive in her water and plaque tooth wipes.

Bella was at the vet recently for her yearly check up which included a dental consultation. She's 2 years old. This is her first dental consultation and we weren't able to see a vet sooner due to Covid. I noticed a white spot on her gum and wasn't sure what it was earlier in the year.

The vet said she still has retained baby teeth and they need to be extracted so the adult teeth can come out, so I will be scheduling a dental appointment for her within the next couple of weeks. At the same time he will remove the tartar build up, even though we brushed her teeth it's hard to reach at the back of her small mouth. He mentioned how important it is to keep brushing her teeth often afterwards. Hope this helps.
