My husband and I decided to take our boys around the cul de sac which lies along a portion of the shoreline of the neighborhood retention pond this morning. We did not see it upon approaching, but we startled one of the smaller (3 ft) gators which live there as he was sunning on the shore. When he jumped into the pond, the large splash immediately attracted Gus' attention. If he was not on a leash (he has NEVER not been off leash), I swear he would have gone right to the edge to explore...the gator turned around to look at him a few feet from the edge. Nothing like a game of stare down between a young alligator and a fearless 5 pound yorkie! |
