At the end of the day you do what you have to. Laws really are different with certain animals everywhere. I believe where we live we can shoot coyotes and foxes if they are harming animals on your property. Not sure about hawks. Eagles are protected no matter where you are. My aunt had to kill a fox that ate one of her ducks and tried to kill several others. Even as an animal lover I would have no issue hurting or killing something attacking my pups.
