My Bella was diagnosed diabetes at 11 1/2 years. Her sugar was also that high. Don’t give up. Bella has two shots a day and is bouncing around like a puppy. She is on insulin and diabetic canned dog food. Biggest curve was testing insulting. Forget the ears I could only get blood by testing on inside of lip. She is doing so good I only test in the morning and if she is in range (under 230). I give insulin of course but do not test blood twice a day. It took a couple of months to get her stable and my vet would text or I would her almost daily for the first 2 weeks. I didn’t realize how sick she had slowly gotten until I got her stabilize and how much life she sprung back. You can do this. I feed and give insulin on my time schedule because exact time is pretty important every day. I feed twice a day and you need to for insulting injections. Treats need to be checked for sugar Because some make her sugar to jump. I get her generic strip so that saved a lot on Amazon. She take vetinsulin insulin. The diabetic dog food can be bought at your vet or online but does require a prescription. It is worth it to see your dog happy. Once you get settled in it not that impacting. For me when I leave town I have to board her at my vet instead of a friend’s house. That was a little ouch on the budget. Anyway hope this helps.
