hi rene! glad to see you're here too,i just found my way here.
i have banfield pet insurance for my dogs, i really love them. i have a pamphlet here with me from my vets office so i type up a little bit about their plans. i just got it a few months month for my dogs and it's really great. we bought her the optimum wellness plan and the optimum puppy plan for my other dog.
their primary care is $15 a month and they give you;
annual vaccines, 2 physical exams, otoscopic exam, eye exam, tonometry (i don't know what this is though) dental exams, neurologic evaluation, cardiovascular evaluation, weigh assessment, coat & skin evaluation, abdominal palpation screening, urogenital evaluation, musculoskeletal eval. & pulmonary/lung eval. then they do a series of tests on your dog routinely, heartworm tests, intestinal parasites, annual de-worming, vaccine warranty (if your dog ever gets any disease they have vaccinated it against they will take care of it in the hospital free of charge) & then theres free office exams during regular hours.
the basic care has everything above, then other stuff like liver and kidney screens and diabetes, cholesterol and pancreatic screens & blood cell exams and its like $19 a month.
then theres basic plus for $27 and then optimum for $35. they do everything else i said and electrocardiograms twice a year and chest x-rays annually and dental flouride treatments. you get discounts for anything that isn't covered in the plan, like pre-existing conditions or if you want your dog spayed or neutered, its 20% off for optimum and then lesser discounts for the others.
i haven't had any other pet insurance before so i can't really compare it to any other plans, but it's always a good thing to have. i don't know if there are banfield animal hospitals all over the states or how popular they are, but their website is
www.banfield.net if anyone is interested.
