I am prejudiced, since I have always had two (or more). My dogs have always been males, and we have never had a problem. In fact, a three-year gap in age worked the best for us. We started having a multi-pet household when my husband and I were still working and were away from home during the day. They had each other for company while we were at work. Now, many years later, our current boys have each other when we go to theme parks during visits with grandchildren!

There are many threads on this site which offer valuable tips on how to introduce the new little one to your family in order to experience the least disruption/possible conflict for your three-year-old. I would suggest that you check them out...BTW, welcome to YT!
