He was diagnosed with pancreatitis 2 weeks ago. He wasn’t too dehydrated or painful in the belly, but bloodwork and other tests finally confirmed string positive for it. Went home with Pepcid, Metronidazole and Cerenia, and Hills Diet low fat ID food (which was prescribed but I don’t like those ingredients at all).
He was better within 24 hours and no other issues at all until yesterday. 2 hours after eating he was very nauseous and had some orange diarrhea with a tiny bit of bright red blood. Rushed him to the vet and they say “he just might not be over it yet”. Then why did we have 2 weeks fine and all of a sudden it’s back?? For no reason. I’m not trusting their opinion. Today he’s not nauseous or having diarrhea, but seems very uninterested in anything but resting. Worried I’m losing my baby because of vets that are questioning enough or pushing to help him. |
Pancreatitis can last for 2 or 3 weeks. NO WAY will it clear up in 24 hours!!
I just went through it recently. It is always best to hospitalize for 2 or 3 days with IV fluids ... We had to do that twice with my Teddy last month. He is fine now.
Pancreatitis CAN kill your pup. If your vet didn't suggest hospitalization and IV fluids, time for another vet.
