Coyotes are smart and opportunistic. They've been known to watch and learn routines--learn when and where pet is let out and comes a day they pounce; it happens in a nano-second!

You were so smart and so quick-thinking in saving your pet and yourself!! We can all learn and become more aware from your situation. So glad you're both ok. I live in Lake Geneva, WI which has an amazing amount of wildlife, most of it beautiful...deer, eagles, hawks, fox and I'm sure the coyotes are (invisibly) out there...And yes, I keep a wary eye out for birds of prey; Piper is allowed to be out in her little fenced yard, but I always stand watch from patio door. Cannot be too careful!
